Her comment is: My grandson is five and already an enthusiastic sewist. I’m thinking this project would make a great “going to grandma’s” cinch sack and organizer. And what’s not to love about that Riley Blake Designs fabric? I know he’ll love it at first sight, as did I. Thanks for this opportunity to advance his love of sewing with this wonderful project.
Show us What You’re Making! We love to hear from you, so whether you’ve tried one of Nancy’s Sewing Patterns, or you’re planning on stitching a project you’ve seen on Sewing With Nancy or on The Nancy Zieman Productions Blog, share your experiences and photos with us on Facebook or Instagram!

It’s so great to see a new generation of sewers emerge. Fabulous creations were made by these young sewing enthusiasts. I learned to sew at age 9 through lessons at a Singer store. My grandmother taught me hand stitching. It started a life-long hobby that has been so much fun!

It is wonderful to promote sewing with children. Sewing classes have been eliminated from schools. My school sold all of the sewing machines when I retired from teaching FACS. Fewer adults know how to sew. Some of us share our knowledge through 4-H and other such organizations. Hats off to Nancy Zieman Productions, and especially to these young people participating in “I sew for fun.”

Congrats to all the kids.

Encouraging and supporting the creative abilities of our young people is all for good. The adults enjoy time with the young and the young learn from and appreciate being involved with their special adult.

Congratulations to all who entered the Kids’ sewing challenge! Your completed projects prove your ability to persevere. Happy Halloween.

I love that you had this contest for young sewers. What a great opportunity for getting them excited about a project.

What fun it is to see so many kids projects. It looks like they did a wonderful job making something useful. This is a skill that will stay with them. Congrats to all the winners!

It is so fun teaching kids to sew. It’s a great beginner project. Juliana had never used an iron, rotary cutter or a sewing machine. She started by cutting 2 inch strips with the rotary cutter then sewing them together and press them to make into a hot pad. Then she was ready to make the cinch sac. She finished her bag for trick or treating. So much fun. Now she’s waiting for her prize with more sewing projects in the book. And ready for another contest! Thanks, Maryn
