I have such a hard time trying to make my own clothes as I read the pattern info over and over before I ever get out the material. But I know that this gauge would be good for patterns of any kind whether they are for clothes or even quilts. It seems that you need to mark anything you are trying to sew. Would love to get this sliding gauge and learn how to use it.

Nancy zieman’s book was recommended by my sewing teacher. I have used it many times and would not be without it.

I enjoyed watching Deanna and Dana alter the tunic pattern. Actually seeing them doing the pivot and slide method makes it easier for me to understand the process. Thank you for a great video.

When I first discovered the Sewing with Nancy programs she was teaching this method of altering patterns to fit. I understand the basic concept of regular altering but when it comes to the princess patterns (which I love) I am confused about where exactly to alter the pattern. In the video here you only altered one side of the side pattern and then the front part. I could use some help with this and I love the slide tool. I love your videos as well.

Does the right size method only work with McCall’s, or all the big 4? Is there a way to tell by the size chart or even the pattern if the method will work? I have pretty much abandoned the big 4 and suspect that once you leave those pastures this method .ay no longer hold true-especially the 14 inches size 14 part. If it’s in the book I will follow-up, but if it’s only going to work on patterns I don’t buy I am less enthusiastic.
