As 2022 comes to a close, we’re taking time for a warmhearted and grateful look back at this year’s memorable moments and unexpected milestones. The Nancy Zieman Productions Team is honored to carry on Nancy’s love of sewing with you—Nancy’s dedicated viewers, readers, and friends. Thank you for your interest, support, and for your many contributions in carrying forward Nancy’s life work and mission of sharing the love of sewing with each other. Our work is a labor of love, thanks to Nancy and thanks to you!
In January, Team NZP kicked off 2022 with our 2022 Block of the Month Fat Quarter Mystery Quilt Series – on the third Saturday of each month, we release a FREE! quilt block sewing tutorial right here at the NZP Blog! As you may know, our 2022 Block of the Month Fat Quarter Mystery Quilt is a mystery no more – as our completed quilt was revealed, for the first time, in our December 17, 2023 Blog Posting! We designed this year’s one-block quilt along with our friends at Benartex, to showcase the beauty of Bali Batiks. We’ve really enjoyed making this special BoM22 in two colorways and revealing the surprise ombre design! Thank you for following along! And mark your calendars for Saturday, January 14, 2023 – when we’ll be launching our 2023 Block of the Month Sew Along Quilt Series!
In January, we launched Stitch it! Sisters Season 3 with our NEW! Apron Sewing Workshop Tutorial Video with our special guest, and friend, Mary Mulari!
In March, we welcomed guest Karie Coffey from OESD to record two episodes of Stitch it! Sisters: NEW! Stabilizer Smarts Video and Origami Gift Boxes Video with Deanna Springer and Karie Coffey.
While Karie was in town, she also presented a 2-Day OESD Machine Embroidery Essentials Event, in-person at The Nancy Zieman Studio. 
During the 2-Day Event, we hosted a speical OESD Machine Embroidery Pop Up Shop.

Later in April we received an honorary mention from The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce in their 2022 Innovation Awards category. Innovation Award candidate’s project, program, process improvement or practice best exemplify forward-thinking ideas and extraordinary innovation. The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce seeks to inspire, celebrate, and encourage an environment of positive change-making innovations by honoring the most innovative companies and organizations in the Beaver Dam area.
In May, The Zieman Sewing Studio became an Exclusive BERNINA Sewing Machine Dealer! The Stitch it! In May, Team NZP held our First Annual in-person SEW•QUILT•CREATE Weekend Event & SALE, and GRAND OPENING EVENT, May 12-14, 2022– at The Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio!

This May, during our SEW•QUILT•CREATE Weekend and Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio Grand Opening Event, we celebrated the opening of the Nancy Had a Notion History Exhibit with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by The Beaver Dam Chamber Ambassadors–pictured above with Richard Zieman, Deanna Springer, and Dana Casey from Team NZP.
The Nancy Zieman History Exhibit was open May through November. Thank you for making the trip to Beaver Dam to celebrate the life of our founder, friend, and host and producer of Sewing With Nancy, Nancy Zieman.

June brought the second annual Wisconsin Arts & Peony Festival, in Beaver Dam, WI, featuring art projects, music, food, tours of Ovan’s Peony Farm, The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show Botanical Quilt Exhibit at the DCCA, and a tile painting event lead by artist Steven Bennett. 12″ square tiles were painted by community members for the third of four mosaic murals –to be installed on the east facing exterior wall of the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre. The first three murals celebrate Nancy Zieman, Lois Ehlert, and Fred MacMurray! Mark your calendar for Next Year’s Wisconsin Arts & Peony Festival on June 3, 2023.
During the 2022 Arts & Peony Festival, Artist Stephen Bennet (shown below with Poppy Shier) organized a mural painting event on Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., behind The Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio, at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater (BDACT) scene shop at 117 W. Maple Ave.
The event is free for people of all ages. No particular skills are required, other than to follow a few simple lines. Bennett donated his time and talents to this project. Four distinguished artists who have roots in Beaver Dam will be honored in this project, including Nancy Zieman, Lois Ehlert, Fred MacMurray, and Eric Kalkhurst.
June also brought the beginning of the bus tour season! We enjoyed welcoming our many sewing friends from across the country on bus tours and car trips! Reserve your 2023 bus tour date by emailing us at info[at]ziemanproductions.com.
In July, we hosted a WBEV Daily Dodge Brat Fry and Ice Cream Social! I think we may have started an annual summer event at The Sewing Studio! What do you think?
Also in July, we added beautiful NEW! Crepe Knits to our wide selection of knit garment fabrics, including Ponte Knits and Jersey Knits, in store and online at ShopNZP.com.
In August, we celebrated 40 years of Sewing With Nancy! Back in 1982 when the first Sewing With Nancy show aired, never did Nancy dream; #1, that she would record over 35 years of television, and #2 that her show would continue to air on multiple channels and across the internet including on YouTube, Create TV, Public Television, and online at nancyzieman.com!
Also in August, we were honored by a visit from CBS 58! The Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio was featured as part of their Beaver Dam Hometown Story! Thank you to the Beaver Dam Chamber and to Nicole Koglin and the Team at CBS 58!
In September, Team NZP launched our fourth annual I Sew For Fun Kids’ Sewing Challenge sponsored by Nancy Zieman Productions, Clover Needlecraft, Benartex and June Tailor. Kids ages 6-9 shared how they “sew for fun” while making a pillowcase with Stars Royal Blue fabric or Springtime Butterflies Lilac Fabric with coordinating Chalk Textures fabrics by Benartex; along with a mystery Clover sewing tool. Every one did a great job sewing their pillow cases! Thank you to all the kids who entered the The challenge was for youth ages 15 and under to share how they “sew for fun”!
Through Team NZP’s blog tutorials, video tutorials, and books & patterns were honored continue Nancy’s mission of teaching and sharing her love of sewing to every one of all ages. NZP’s annual Sewing Challenges are a way you can show and share your love of sewing all year long!

In September, we celebrated the 18th annual Great Wisconsin Quilt Show! For the first time since 2019, The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show is back in-person event! PBS Wisconsin, Nancy Zieman Productions, and a Team of Volunteers welcomed you to Madison, Wis., September 8-10, 2022.
Nancy Zieman’s 12th Annual Quilt To Give was again held in-person at onsite at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. The last two years, we sewed bed quilts at home, with our step-by-step sewing directions at the The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show Facebook Page. This year we were grateful to be back in person and collectively stitch comfort quilts to welcome refugee children being resettled in Wisconsin. Your comfort quilts are included in welcome packages for our new neighbors, alongside PBS KIDS educational materials and distributed to families in their new communities throughout 2022. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of your support!
Nancy’s words continue to say it all, “The love of sewing is our common thread”. Thank you for your incredible talents and efforts, and thank you for your creative kindness in 2022, and always!

The Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio and the Stitch it! Sisters hosted our very first vendor booth, ever, at this year’s Great Wisconsin Quilt Show! Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and attended Quilting Lectures by Deanna, Dana, and Denise. Congratulations to our small but mighty team for taking our store on the road while also for keeping the store open in Beaver Dam–during the event! We had a great time seeing everyone this year and we’re looking forward to seeing you next year!

In September, The Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio hosted a Lorraine Torrence Wearable Art Exhibit & Pop-Up Boutique!
Visitors were able to meet designer Lorraine Torrence, and purchase wearable art garments sewn by Lorraine! Due to the success of the September exhibit, we’re happy to announce we’ve added a NEW! Lorraine Torrence’s Wearable Art and Quilt Patterns Category in-store and online at ShopNZP.com!
October is always an exciting month for Nancy Zieman Productions! Nancy Zieman started her first business, Nancy’s Notions, in October 1979, and her second business, Nancy Zieman Productions, in October 2007. Deanna Springer, along with her sisters Dana Casey and Denise Abel, and Richard Zieman, started ShopNZP.com and Stitch it! Sisters in October 2019, and we opened the NEW! Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio in October 2021!

In October, we celebrated the one year anniversary of The NEW! Nancy Zieman Sewing Studio and we expanded our hours! We’re now open Monday through Saturday at 120 Front Street in the fine arts district in downtown Beaver Dam, WI. We look forward to seeing you here!
The last Saturday in October is our annual Downtown Fall Fest in Beaver Dam, and the one day each year, Dana, Deanna, and Denise become the Witch it! Sisters. Front Street in closed to traffic during the day for a team of festival volunteers to host family events, games, food, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest! Next up, Cabin Fever Fest –annually on the last Saturday in January. See you then!
In November, Deanna headed to Iowa to meet up and sew for a week with quad-state sewing friends, Mary Mulari, Rita Farro, and Rhonda Pierce–for their annual S.E.W. Retreat at Circle K Farmhouse.

Nancy left a legacy of dedication,inspiration,humor,friendship,compassion,desire to share in challenging oneself and others in creative expression. I feel honored to have met and talked to her and I never grow tired of reading her publications and watching Sewing with Nancy. I am using these skills Nancy has taught me and I share with others to make and distribute hats to our local cancer resource centers and to individuals who need them after chemo treatments.
